The shadows carried his frail body in the direction of his stare, and the Strange Man regarded a framed picture on the wall. His tapered talons snatched the picture from its place so that he could examine it more closely. It was a picture of Dras and Rosalyn. The monster’s eyes fixed on the beautiful young woman. An inscription at the bottom of the picture read:

LOVE YA, GOOFBALL. —ROSALYN

The monster touched the contours of her body. His beady eyes nearly bore a hole into the glass frame. Yes, she was the one he wanted. And only this feeble boy and his love for her stood in the way.

In one exquisite moment the Strange Man thought to eviscerate the boy where he stood, but he knew that was impossible. For whatever purpose, the boy had been marked. Not only by him but—by Him. By God.

Repulsive, but true. Yet the Strange Man knew there were other ways to destroy the boy.

“She is a delightful young girl, your friend Rosalyn,” he hissed through his fangs. “There’s fire in her eyes. I like that.”

He recalled seeing her at The Rave Scene. How she danced. The way her body moved. The way the lights and the music moved for her. How it excited him.

How it made him want to tear her limb from limb.
